We get it. Slow Rise is a weird bakery. We have weird hours, a limited menu, and limited availability. But there's a reason for those things, and we think that it's what makes us the best we can be.
The root of it all is this: we are a very small business. We are a tiny group of people that works really hard to bring you the best product we can. But we have limits. And we know that if we try to push ourselves beyond our limits, we won’t be here for the long haul. We'll burn out, get bitter, and eventually resent the things that made us love being your bakers in the first place. We truly do not want that to happen.
So we are doing our best to operate within our limits now so that we can stay physically and emotionally healthy, and be able to commit to long-term, incremental growth that will last. In an industry where the norm is to destroy yourself and others in order to be open all the time and make everything for everyone who wants anything, we're choosing a different path.
But that means that for the time being, we won’t always be open when you’d like us to. And some days we’ll run out of some items before you get a chance to get them. Just know that we don’t like disappointing you any more than you like being disappointed, and there’s a reason we do the things we do. And if your favorite bread or pastry always seems to be sold out, please take advantage of our online pre-ordering! We’ll keep it set aside for you, we just need 2 days’ notice.
